Lazy Windy Day · Oct 3, 11:40 AM

Well, we have a full day planned for tomorrow, so we decided to sleep in a bit and take it easy today and just go to a small town, Machynlleth, a bit north of here. The day started off fine if rather windy.
The wind kept picking up, and kept picking up, and kept picking up! Soon the ocean was nothing but whitecaps, and out fairly far into the water! So on our way out of town, we stopped at the ocean to watch and feel the wind.
It was quite silly, and to make things even sillier, there were people wind-surfing just off the shore.

After getting battered for a few minutes and lots of salt water on Jonathan’s lens, we headed on, past the full golf courses and praying that a golf ball blown well off course didn’t hit us. We managed to avoid getting blown off the road entirely and made it to Machynlleth and parked. We walked to a 15th century house that supposedly had lots of nifty stuff about Owain Glyndwr, because he held his parliament there in 1404.

It was shut for the weekend.

But there was a lovely clock tower in the centre of town, and so we walked under it.

So we left Machynlleth and went to a bird sanctuary, left, and went to another CADW site, an Industrial Revolution iron-smelting furnace. It was neat, and despite Morgan not liking the industrial revolution, interesting. It had a nice waterfall behind it to drive the large waterwheel (which was smaller originally), so Jonathan took pictures of it, despite the obnoxiously large cable draped rather un-picturesquely across the water.

After that we came home and enjoyed the wind and occasional rain and blue sky that punctuated the afternoon and evening in the vain hopes of getting to bed early and rising early tomorrow morning.
